Day 2

Subject: What do you want to get out of this, [firstname]?

Hi [firstname],

Before you start doing anything, you need to give a great deal of thought to what you want to get out of your social media marketing strategy.

Are you looking to build brand awareness? If so, you'll need to make sure you have all the brand elements in place first. That means having a unique logo, color scheme, typeface etc. ready before you start any marketing campaigns.

Do you want to increase audience engagement? In which case you need to design a campaign designed to get people actively involved with your content instead of just passively reading it.

Are you trying to get subscribers? If so, social media marketing is the perfect way to get sign-ups to your blog, newsletter or mailing list. Use social media marketing to gain people's attention and trust. You then need to have an irresistible offer and a compelling “hook” on your squeeze page.

Are you looking to make sales? Counter-intuitively, the best way to make sales via social media marketing is not to be too “salsey”. Instead, concentrate on giving value to people you interact with. Get them to like and follow you first; the sales will come later. It's best to play the long game here.

Or is there something else you want to use social media marketing for? There's an almost unlimited list of things you can use social media marketing for.

Regardless of what you want to get out of social media marketing, you need to define your goals early on. Make them specific and quantifiable. They will shape everything you do from now on.

Warmly,

[Your Name]
